Info on First Meet

Welcome again to the Masters of Diagonal Chess Club (MDCC). This club is dedicated to providing opportunities to students of The Master's University to play and learn chess as well as socialize. We encourage you to invite others for our in-person meets.

You are receiving this email because you signed up to be a part of this club. Attendance and participation in our monthly meets and competitions are not strictly required. Absences are allowed as long as a prior notice is given. As will be discussed in our first meet, there will be points awarded and deducted from the leaderboard based on participation and attendance.

Our first meet will happen in ECS100 on the weekend of the last week in September. A poll will be sent on the Master's Campus App on the specific day (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and time. The meeting will cover details of how the club will function and events.

Collaboration

During the semester, we will be in close collaboration with a local chess academy out in Santa Clarita called Masterpiece Chess Academy. It is led by a graduate of TMU and a high-ranking chess player with years of experience. 

We are hoping to have him speak at our first meet.

This Saturday, he shall be starting a tournament at his chess club where many players from in and around Santa Clarita go to play. If you would like to have a feel for the over-the-board play before TMU's Chess Club commences, you can reply to this email - information on the location, time, and contact will be provided.

During the semester, we shall have cross tournaments occurring (both rated and unrated) in and out of campus.
SNACKS AND REFRESHMENTS

There will be Pizza and Refreshments served.

Non-members are invited. Bring a friend. The more the merrier!
